The ‘House W’ has been designed by Florian Busch Architects as a simple, modern dwelling that focuses on simple everyday living with sustainability attributes in the spotlight. The home is situated in Nakafurano, Hokkaido, Japan and sits on the sit of an old farm barn surrounded by farmer’s fields, which influences the profile and form of the structure’s design. The home is covered partly on the exterior with a solar skin that enables it to run off-grid with a battery setup and is reported by the architects to produce around twice as much energy as the structure uses.
The ‘House W’ is made mostly out of timber with a total of 1,754-square-feet of living space that’s spread over two flors with ample natural light throughout thanks to ample windows throughout.
